Fairfield & Madison, Connecticut
The Institute for Ayurvedic & Naturopathic Therapies is a family practice of licensed naturopathic physicians. Since 2006, the practice has helped patients across Connecticut address the root cause of illness through Ayurveda, naturopathic medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. Every patient receives an unhurried evaluation and a treatment plan built around their individual needs.
The Approach
Where most clinics offer a single modality, the Institute draws on all three, so each care plan can combine the diagnosis, herbs, bodywork and nutrition best suited to the patient.
India’s 5,000-year-old science of life. Each patient’s unique mind-body constitution (dosha) is identified and rebalanced with diet, herbs and detoxifying therapies.
Licensed, science-based natural medicine that supports the body’s own ability to heal using clinical nutrition, botanicals and modern lab testing.
Acupuncture, cupping and Chinese herbs to restore the flow of energy (qi), ease pain and calm the nervous system.
How We Find the Root Cause
Before any treatment begins, the physicians read the body’s own signals. Alongside modern lab testing, the practice uses traditional diagnostic methods to understand each patient’s unique constitution and imbalances.
An ancient Ayurvedic art (Nadi Pariksha), the pulse reveals subtle imbalances in the body’s systems long before they show up as illness.
Tongue diagnosis and iridology (reading the iris) offer a window into digestion, organ health and where the body needs support.
Naturopathic Bio Blood Analysis and targeted lab work add a precise, science-based layer to the picture — the best of both worlds.
Featured therapy
A gentle, water-based cleanse of the large intestine that supports digestion, energy and whole-body detoxification. Performed by trained practitioners in a private, comfortable setting — often the perfect complement to an Ayurvedic detox or naturopathic gut-health plan.
Featured therapy
A cornerstone of Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture uses fine, sterile needles at specific points to restore the body’s natural flow of energy. It is one of the practice’s most requested therapies — valued for relieving pain, easing stress and supporting fertility, digestion and sleep.
Areas of Care
IBS, bloating, acid reflux, constipation and detox support through colonics, diet and herbs.
Acupuncture, cupping, Ayurvedic bodywork and hydrotherapy for chronic and acute pain.
Cycle irregularities, fibroids, menopause and fertility supported naturally.
Shirodhara, herbal medicine and acupuncture to calm the nervous system.
Eczema, psoriasis and chronic skin issues addressed from the inside out.
Panchakarma cleanses and seasonal resets to restore energy and resilience.
Patient Stories
“After working with Dr. Kaushik — following their suggestions, taking the herbs and going for the Panchakarma detox treatments — I got the most relief ever from my chronic eczema. I’m comfortable in my own skin for the first time in my life.”
— Diana, Westport, CT“My OB/GYN said the only treatment for my fibroids was a full hysterectomy. I tried naturopathic care first. Several months later I’m symptom-free, with a normal 28-day cycle. Dr. Kaushik never gave up on helping my body heal naturally.”
— M., Bridgeport, CTGood to Know
The Institute treats people, not just the disease. The first appointment is an in-depth conversation about health history, lifestyle and goals, after which the physicians combine the therapies of Ayurveda, Naturopathy and Acupuncture into a plan tailored to the individual.
The practice’s naturopathic physicians are in-network with Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, ConnectiCare and Oxford. Patients should confirm that their plan covers naturopathic care. Ayurvedic therapies are typically not covered by insurance.
Appointments can be booked online through Zocdoc, by phone at (203) 331-9111, or by request through the contact form. Returning patients can use the Patient Portal.
